System Administrator - Annapolis Junction, MD
We are looking for a highly motivated person to perform Microsoft 2000/2003 systems administration and enterprise management duties. Administer applications and troubleshoot and correct software problems. Perform system backups and standard operating duties. Provide support as required and develop minor software applications in support of tasking. Review system logs for vulnerability and optimization.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be able to analyze/correct hardware and software problems. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 systems administration and networking is required. Knowledge of TCP/IP data communications protocol; principles and practices of security implementation in the areas of data communications and information systems; PKI, data encryption, and encryption equipment; firewalls, Department of Defense security regulations is desirable.
Must have cross-functional experience in IT, be able to work with teams and also independently. Must be familiar with Configuration Management principles. Must be able to troubleshoot problems and work with personnel to pinpoint, resolve, and document problems. Familiarity with Microsoft Clustering Technology is desirable. Must be skilled in MS-Excel, MS-Access, and MS-Word. BS degree in an associated discipline, (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering), or equivalent experience, plus two or more years experience, and related Information Systems, Computer/Network Security experience, is required. Certification by Microsoft, (WIN2000/2003, Exchange 2000/2003), and/or Unix systems administration certification, is a plus. Must be skilled in computer operations, installations, and configuration of OS and applications on server-class machines. Familiarity with Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory administration, Microsoft Exchange 2000/2003 systems administration, and the Ability to trouble shoot problems in a large complex environment are preferred. Must be able to articulate problems and provide solutions clearly to customers at all levels. Ability to work in a fluid environment. Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills are required. Ocassional overseas travel may be required.
